Teamwork In Music

Teamwork In Music. I have had a few calls by some acts; upcoming and mainstream wanting me on their team and I humbly turn them down (allow me to brag. Perks of being an Ashanti). Reason is I am either not practically available or I can’t choose between all these offers.

But on a serious note, I realize every single artist out there need one thing; a solid team. A team money can’t buy or influence can’t infiltrate. But who can you trust to do the job needed?

That’s the million dollar question. Ensuring teamwork in music will determine if you will ever succeed in this industry or not. So I will help everyone out. I will outline 5 strong people an artist should have in his or her team to jump-start your career on a good budget.

A PUBLICIST / BLOGGER

Yes, someone like me. Seriously everyone should have one trusted blogger. This is a serious person here. (Stop using different bloggers to promote your music; it might be good but it messes with your catalogs)

Find and build a relationship with someone who is good at writing and has the potential of being a music influence to people.

Teamwork In Music a blogger

He will round-up as your publicist because he needs to talk about you every time. A good blogger/ publicist is a perfect promoter. (talk of triple threat on a good budget)

AN DIGITAL ARTIST

I have seen a lot of acts fall because they use the worst cover art for their works.
If you are lucky, you might get a digital artist who is good at either designing a website or even shoot a good video. See where I’m going with this?

But it’s very hard to find such versatile people but if you are really willing to “blow” up, then start searching for the right explosives.

A PRODUCER

Not just any producer. A producer who has a very good listening ear for trend and quality. One who can give you the best commercial song and also give you an awesome sampled good project to go hard on.
These types of people are easy to find.

This is because the new acts have a lot to prove. As an artist, there is one or two producers you trust to do a good job. If you are lucky, you will find one who doubles up as a DJ.

A CONFIDENT BUT SMOOTH TALKER

You might be a good artist but the worst at opening your mouth. A confident person is needed to make the calls, book the small gigs, interviews and also regulate your social media account.

Teamwork In Music a smooth talker

Your social media account is very important as this era is filled with short mind spans but great critics.
A smooth talker doubles as your PR as you might need someone to talk to the media or do some explaining.

A BUSINESS MINDED MANAGER

This is very important. You don’t need a sponsor (well not really) and you don’t need just any manager. The smooth talker is good but not right when it comes to the business aspect.

Teamwork In Music a good manager

This type of person is needed to negotiate deals, understand contracts, foresee profitable trends and also stand in when things get hard.

Trust me, this person is the most important piece of the puzzle.

Now, you have these people to make the teamwork in music. What’s next? You are the final piece needed. Your hard work as an artist will determine if these people will push you to success.

The best team will be nothing if you release trashy music. These people need to work together. You need a business and strategic plan to ensure everyone is doing their part.

Thirdly you need money. Now listen, IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO INVEST IN YOURSELF, GO HOME. THIS GAME IS NOT FOR CHILDREN. Get a job, fall on a stream of income to finance this.

If you expect a mythological zylofon to knock on your door, wait; they are coming soon from lazyville.
With teamwork in music, you need to go hard, respect your team, be the face of the team and make money for the team.

Long live Ghana music.
