The wait is over, we are in a DNA season. No more “How to Rap”, no more “Devil” and no more muscling other rappers.
HotBoy DNA had the best promotion for his EP when he jokingly photoshopped his face into dancehall artist, Stonebwoy’s face with his wife at the VGMAs.
He had a fairly strong promotion for that which fueled his EP. So yesterday, on his birthday, he premiered his project to Ghana and I loved the reception the project received in a day.
So im here to do my thing; as usual, my review is simple; no pausing, no repeating and definitely no skipping. All I write is my reaction.
So ladies and gentlemen, HotBoy DNA’s Good Vibes Only:
WHO GOT BARS?
Chopping the flow as usual. His voice makes the song more interesting to listen to. A commanding delivery with his articulate punchlines.
“my rap book is like a death note // so if I drop a rapper’s name, that’s an L, he gets smoked”
Did he just drop a Greek mythology reference?? (Poseidon and Hades) The hotboy isn’t playing on this one.
A Winnie the pooh line. Lmao. This is a war song.
HotBoy DNA’s intro lives up to the expectation of the title, An actual good give.
Nice title, awesome instrumental. Damn his voice sounds bouncy. I have a feeling he’s gonna flex hard.
I love the chorus; the hallelujahs and amens tho.
Okay this is a trip far from the usual HotBoy DNA, his style is more commercially appealing with a positive vibe.
This song needs a video; cos this is the hit song out there.
Second verse is more flexing on the beat. DNA is having fun. Feels like his had a great night and poured it here. Shouts to Young Skery; I need to write about him. Flexxx issa jam.
STRANGER IN MY LAND
Oh an afro pop DNA feels bad.
Wait I love this!! He proved me wrong in 7 seconds. I never thought a hip hop lord could kill an afro pop tune effortlessly.
Love the message. This is from a side of pain, depression and loneliness and DNA has been able to put this magic into writing; he deserves props.
The verses should be slow just like the chorus.
Not feeling the verse; too many bars for an afro pop but the chorus makes for that. Trust me when I tell you, this is a jam worth repeating yo.
4 songs into this and I love this. The upcoming start have a lot to prove so they go really hard.
The instrumentals got me bobbing my head. He is on a trap flow, all hustle.
“Shut your mouth//let the money do it verbally”, dope boi is lit yo. DNA is doing a flex damage on this beat and I love this.
A few rappers are able to turn a lit flow into an actual muscle song. He is muscling himself on his own EP and he doesn’t need a competition to do that. How awesome is that??
BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS
Hot in the booth nigga. SLO DEZZY IS HERE YO. Finally, a producer I vibe with .
Wow DNA is leaving no stones unturned here. He is complaining about this industry rappers claiming to be friends.
This is something I never understood; why are y’all scared to feature DNA?? The hook is just magical. No one can deny the chemistry here between Slo and Hotboy.
LIVE FAST DIE SLOW
Love this build up, this is definitely not Slo Dezzy. Okay back to Young Skery. HotBoy DNA is awesome with hooks. An awesome rapper with impeccable delivery also giving a dope hook. What a trifecta.
“Yo Shady where you at?// I got your back like an escort”. I literally laughed hard. No one can deny DNA’s basic bars
Milly milly rock, I just did the milly rock after he said that. I love this.
Kw3 did I just hear an air condition reference?? Found a new favorite. This song is awesome. The instrumental, chorus, lines and ad libs are just out of this world.
Another Afro Pop song. I hope I get impressed here.
Is that a story telling song. Wow. This is slow, less punch lines and an actually story.
I love this hook but I love Stranger In My Land’s hook more.
Lucky Bastard is a redemption for the old one.
Love the third verse. A victory verse. But honestly I vibe with this song. That situation where everyone can’t get the girl but you get victorious winning her heart. Hotboy ampa!!!!!
SELL MY SOUL?
Final song. DAMN HE IS SINGING!!!!! Who knew he could sing this good?
DNA is fighting his demons while fighting the other demons.
He just referred to his brand as a home invasion; and I believe that.
A rapper selling his soul has a deeper meaning; but what does HotBoy DNA mean? The price of winning has his pros and cons but DNA is poised to win with the pros and also conquer his cons to his favour.
Honestly this is worth the wait. HotBoy DNA has a super delivery with an awesome punch line. I respect this rapper. Every song has his pros and cons. Flexxx and Sell My Soul is the top favorite. Who Got Bars is the most intense track on this, and is perfect for the first.
He also dropped 2 commercial tunes which was just awesome. Stranger In My Land has the best hook and Lucky Bastard has an impeccable story line.
I urge everyone to go cop this this. Is for free downloads on Soundcloud and free for all streaming platforms. Happy belated birthday DNA.
