Shatta Wale is hands down one of the most prominent artists in Ghana. He has amassed a strong and loyal following following. Even at his worst moments, there are people waiting to hold him when he falls.
Thats the Shatta Effect. Like it or not, he is bound to be a winner. Charles Nii Armah Jnr, was once known as Bandana, one of the few pioneering acts of Dancehall music in Ghana but mysteriously vanished from the music scene.
His new skin called Shatta Wale has been on the roll ever since he released his comeback hit, Dancehall king and has never stopped working very hard. Today, we bring you the best Shatta Wale songs ranked from the in house writers. Enjoy this
KILL DEM PRAYERS
Reason why I chose to start this list with this song is a mystery.
This song is very different from the majority of his hit songs and this showed us a different set of Shatta Wale a few people knew.
This song was not about cars, wealth accumulation, sex, love or not an insult but a major song aimed at his wellbeing and critics (so called haters and trolls).
I personally love this song and this is one of the few songs of Shatta Wale that you’d find in my playlist.
Many would expect me to choose Gringo over this but sorry, Bullet Proof is an instant Afro Pop classic.
2018 is a mixed year for Shatta Wale. Aside from the fact that he had a major deal with Zylofon music, he had a leaked sex tape and a heavy heart break with his partner and baby mama, Michy.
But Bullet Proof is a song you would listen and forget the dirty side the dancehall artist portrays to the media scene. And don’t get me started on the video.
Shatta Wale is known for his poorly budgeted videos but this is pure artistry from the artist.
I included this song here for a reason; the stage performance. The artist is known for many things but no one can speak ill of his energetic performance on stage.
A personally favorite of the former president (VERY OBVIOUS).
But this song is one of the few moments people actually enjoyed his bragging moments.
I mean the chorus is just catchy and worth a smile.
This song has a major significance to Ghana. This began the moment when Ghana music had it’s meteoric rise once again in the African scene.
2017 was the best year for Ghana music. There wasn’t any club or event that had Ghana music buzzing this hard. But this song was the beginning and also the peak of Shatta Wale.
I can say hands down this is his most popular song yet. This song also introduced us to his Militants.
YOU CAN’T TOUCH ME
This might sound as a big surprise to most but Shatta Wale has a golden heart for humanity (I know right, weird).
This song was basically nothing to me till I heard the buzz and significance in Europe and Northern America.
This song was a campaign song for an anti racism activist team (DANCE AGAINST RACISM). Where people would upload a video of them dancing to the song all in a peaceful protest against bullying.
The song was about shaking off haters but this theme utilized is wonderfully for their advantage and this is a major reason why I would even add it here.
Low Tempo ft. Shatta Michy
Hosanna ft. Burna Boy
